ZIP code lookup by address
Type a U.S. street address to get its 5-digit ZIP code, county and location.
How to find a ZIP code from an address
Enter the street number and name, then the city and state. A ZIP code is optional. The tool finds the address on Census street maps and shows the ZIP code that address range belongs to. Leave out apartment or suite numbers; they don't change the 5-digit ZIP code.
Already know the city? Browse ZIP codes by state and city, or find all ZIP codes within a radius of an address.
Frequently asked questions
Where do the address results come from?
Addresses are matched with the free U.S. Census Bureau geocoder, which uses Census TIGER street address ranges. It returns the matched address, ZIP code, county and coordinates.
Why can't it find my address?
The Census geocoder matches street addresses only. It may miss very new streets, rural route or PO Box addresses, and apartment numbers. Try the address without the unit number, and include the city and state.
Does this give the ZIP+4 code?
No. The Census geocoder returns the 5-digit ZIP code. For the full ZIP+4, use the USPS ZIP Code Lookup on usps.com.
Do you store the addresses I search?
No. The address is sent to the Census Bureau to find a match and is not saved by this site.
